An important instrument of consumer information on identity, composition, shelf-life and preparation of packaged food is the Food Labelling Enforcement which being standardized Europe-wide since 1979. In Germany the guidelines of the European labelling (Guideline 2000/13/EG) are fixed in the Food-Labelling Order (Scource: Bund für Lebensmittelrecht und Lebensmittelkunde e.V.).
